Hollywood
Wow, what a fun trip to Hollywood. I had never been to California before. It was a long flight, but my Mom and I had fun. There were no more seats available on our plane so my Dad took a different airline. He got to ride first class
I bet you are wondering why we were in California? Well, I had the chance to roll Sushi on the Ellen Degeneres Show! We stayed right near Universal Studios Hollywood. It was really cool, there was a street called Universal City Walk that had lots of stores and places to eat. The day we arrived we had dinner at Bubba Gump’s. I played ping pong on two tables with our server. After dinner we went to a few stores to get souvenirs for Samuel and Ariel.
I found these great sunglasses. The next day we went back to the City Walk to have breakfast at a Crepe place. Crepes are one of my favorite foods. My Dad makes great crepes. Then we took the Metro ( an underground train) to Hollywood Blvd. My mom really wanted to see the Chinese Theater and the Walk of Fame. I saw Big Bird’s star and also the star of a composer I learned about in homeschool name Igor Stravinsky.
We ate at a Mongolian Noodle shop. It was very fun. They gave you a bowl and you could fill it with what ever you wanted. (Those are my new sunglasses in the picture.) It was then time to get ready for my segment on the Ellen Show. They sent a driver to get us and he was amazed that we took the Metro. He had never driven anyone who had been on the Metro before. When we arrived at the NBC Studios they took me to my very own dressing room. It was full of yummy things to eat and drink, but my parents didn’t want me to get too hyper so I only had a few things to munch on. It was freezing in the studio so I wore my coat during the taping. You can see the clip of my segment on my website. After the taping we went out to dinner with two nice people named Dea and Hank. They took us to a steak house near Warner Brothers Studios that has been there for at least 50 years. They had the best garlic bread ever! We decided after dinner to relax a bit in the Jacuzzi at our hotel. The next morning we had a very early flight. We had to leave at 6:30 a.m. Our driver radioed his control center, who told him a “clear” way to go. As he pulled onto the freeway, we saw that it was already jammed with cars. Eventually, we were sitting in traffic not moving. The driver said it was a parking lot. Dad said we would just have to stay with the driver if we missed our planes. I don’t think the driver wanted us at his house because he quickly got off the freeway and took us the scenic route to the airport. After two busy days, I slept most of the way home on the plane and I was very happy to see my own bed!
