Tangy Barbecue Sauce

Use this as a dip, or put it on your barbecue chicken or ribs. Either way, you'll love it.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 1 1/2 hour
Total Time: about 1 1/2 hours
Yield: 1 batch
Servings: 24

Ingredients
1/4 cup pickling spice
1 quart cider vinegar
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 14 oz. bottle ketchup
1 12 oz. can tomato paste
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 large onion, sliced
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon hoe pepper sauce
 

Prep
Measure pickling spice into amall square of cheesecloth
Gather cheesecloth around spice and tie ends together with string or thread
Place in large kettle
Add remaining ingredients and simmer 1 1/2 hours
Remove cheesecloth and store tightly covered in refrigerator
