French Onion Soup

A great soup
Preparation Time: 10-15 min
Cook Time: about 40 minutes
Total Time: about 1 hour

Yield: 6 bowls
Servings: 6
|

 |
2 medium sweet Spanish onions
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 10 1/2 oz cans condensed beef bouillon
2 1/2 cups water
6 slices French bread, cut 1

Peel and slice onions, and separate into rings
Saute onions in butter until soft and golden, about 20 minutes
Stir in flour
Gradually add bouillon and water
Bring to boil and simmer 20 minutes
Meanwhile, toast bread lightly
Place in 6 ovenproof soup bowls
Ladle soup over bread
Sprinkle with cheeses
Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes
