Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce

A great pasta suace that you can make at home
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
Cook Time: 25-30 minutes
Total Time: 30-45 minutes

Yield: 1 batch
Servings: 6
|

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup chopped onion
3/4 teaspoon minced garlic
1 28 oz can crushed Italian tomatoes or fresh tomatoes
3 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, minced
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound spaghetti, cookd and drained

In a large saucepan, over medium heat, heat oil until hot
Add onion and garlic, and cook about 5 minutes, stirring, until lightly browned
Stir in tomatoes, basil, salt, sugar, pepper, and 1/2 cup of water
Bring to boil
Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes, stirring occaisionally
Serve with spaghetti
